Fred Lee Pops Baggett, Jr. was born on December 18, 1953, in Macon, GA to proud parents Fred Baggett Sr, and Barbara Benton. He passed away on June 265, 2024, in Gainesville, GA after a sudden illness.
Fred was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Bobby Benton, brother Clayton Baggett, sister Julie Allen, and grandson Brian Starnes, Jr. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Karen Johnson Skeen Baggett, and his stepchildren Tara (Griffin) Robinson Mayor, Everett (Buck) Skeen, Joseph (Joe) Skeen, Benjerman (Ben) Skeen, Stacy (Brian Sr) Starnes, Regi Hunt, uncle Don Baggett, sister Kim Baggett, as well as 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Fred and Karen were married in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and shared many wonderful years together. He cherished his family above all else and was known for his compassionate and understanding nature. Fred was a graduate of Upson County High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Throughout his life, Fred held various occupations, including working as a lumberjack in Upper Lake, California, and as the owner of L and K Landscaping. He had a wide range of interests, from being a NASCAR fan to supporting Georgia Tech and the Falcons. Fred was a member of the community judgment, Fred touched the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and warmth that will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
In this time of mourning, we remember Fred Lee Pops Baggett Jr with fondness and gratitude for the impact he made on all our lives. A special message from him to his step-Goddaughter Sherry Cates and her family, and Teg: Your memory will forever live on in our hearts. Rest in Peace, Fred.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. till the time of service at the Funeral Home.
