George Henry Sampson

George Henry Sampson Jr. 86 of Gainesville Ga was born in Queens NY in February of 1940. He entered into peaceful rest on May 15th 2026.

He is preceded in death by his parents George Sr. and Eugenie, loving wife Marie, brother in law Robert King Sr and nephew Robert King Jr.

He entered the US Army in 1962 where he was a morse code interpreter and was honorably discharged in 1964. Upon returning he sought a degree in horticulture where he found his passion for floral design. He then bought a flower shop in NY City on Park Ave. called Marion Champol Flowers where he became an award winning floral designer and Past President of FTD from 1986-1987. Flowers also brought him the love of his life of 35 years Marie Hildebrant whom he met though David Hildebrant, Marie's brother whom he worked with. They married and soon moved to Stamford CT. where they raised three childen while he was still traveling daily into NY city by train. After retirement they moved to Georgia where he happily lived with Marie until her passing in 2002 and then dedicated  himself into being the greatest Granddad ever. He loved living in Cresswind and had many friends and would play a lot of cards.

George is survived by his loving children, Andrew and wife Diane with grandkids of Andrew (Fiance Alexis), Michael  (wife Alyson), Megan (fiance Patty) and Allison. Greg and wife Lisa with grandkids of Matthew, Chris (wife Allyssa), Austin (wife Paula), Preston (wife Belen) and Clair (fiance Alex). Audrey and husband George with grandchild of Katherine (husband Brandon). He had numerous great grand children that bought him great joy. He is also survived by his loving sister Audrey King and nieces, Joann, Lynn and Barbara.

Visitation will be Friday, May 29th from 1-3pm and 5-7pm at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home in Gainesville Ga

Funeral service will be Saturday morning starting at 11:00 am at the Hillside Chapel and Interment to follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming.
