Jay Duggan, 52, passed away at home on December 27th of natural causes. Jay was born on October 5th, 1969 in Portsmouth, Virginia. He attended Northshore High School in Slidell, Louisiana and Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. He was a proud veteran of the Louisiana and Georgia Army National Guard. Most of his adult life he was involved in retail sales and restaurant management, including his most recent positions with Panda Express and Juicy Crab. As a McDonalds Manager he completed Hamburger University, received the Gold Hat Award in 2002 and won the Super Saturday National Challenge as one of the top 1% of restaurant managers nationally. He also held positions with The Budd Group, T-Mobile, The Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Freight Handlers Inc., Taco Bell, Lowes and DialMart USA.
Jay was passionate about many things, including the Florida Gators, cooking and eating good food, about anything involving New Orleans, politics, golfing, fast cars and motorcycles and helping others less fortunate. Jay’s proudest moments were becoming a dad to John “Javi” Duggan and watching him grow into an intelligent and compassionate young man.
Jay missed his calling as a standup comedian and had a rare ability to make everyone laugh with his funny stories. Jay seldom met a stranger and was always jumping in to help people down on their luck.
Jay is survived by his son John Javier Duggan, his parents John and Joyce Duggan and his sister Cindy Duggan.
In lieu of an in person memorial service, we ask those wishing to send condolences and share memories of Jay to do so at www.hillsidechapelfuneralhome.com, and a donation to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org would be appreciated instead of sending flowers to the family.
