Margaret Sims Obituary

Margaret Sue Sims, 83, of Murrayville Georgia, went to rest in heaven on November 9th, 2024. She passed peacefully while her loved ones sang hymns.

Margaret was the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Rae Gertrude (Peck) Sims. Margaret was a poet and songwriter, sang alto in the Mt. Olive Trio, and had a ThD from Source of Light ministries. She taught Sunday school for most of her life. Day-to-day she worked as a dry cleaner and retired from 3D Cleaners. Always in good humor, she described herself as "about as funny as a pay commode in a dysentery ward."

Margaret is survived by her sister, Mary Sims; many nieces and nephews who love her dearly, and her Mt. Olive church family. In her last years she was cared for closely by Carolynn & Derrell Sullens, Amy & Bill Greene, Doug & Gail Stevens, and Regina Pimentel. Mary was always by her side.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lumpkin Cunty. Rev. Ricky Stone and Rev. Terry Head will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Margaret will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at funeral home.
