Margaret Jones Sitter, age 89, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023.

Margaret was born April 19, 1934, in Hall County, to the late Dewey and Thelma (Bell) Jones. She was an active member of her church regularly providing meals for funerals and other events. Margaret enjoyed traveling with friends, gardening, making ceramics, porcelain dolls and various types of needlework.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L. Sitter; sisters, Ann Gravitt and Lillian Turner; brother, Harold Jones; and her son Robert L. Sitter II.

Survivors include children Melinda (Steven) Gottfried, James (Debbie) Sitter and Jennifer Turner; grandchildren Daniel (Helen) Sitter, Robert L. (Chelsea) Sitter III, Chelsea Sitter, Robyn Turner, Nicholas Sitter, Aaron Turner and Jacob Gottfried; eight great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home with interment to follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Darryl Womack, pastor of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Margaret Would be honored with a donation to Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church.
