Martha Louise (Reece) O'Kelley

Martha Louise Reece O’Kelley, 90, of Gainesville, Georgia entered the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 20, 2023. 

Born in Gainesville, Georgia on December 9th, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edward Reece and Lola Mae Hudgins Reece. Martha was a 1950 graduate of Airline School, Gainesville, Georgia and was named Valedictorian. Martha retired from the City of Gainesville as their Assistant Executive Director in 1994. She also retired from J&J Foods as a cashier. She brightened each customer’s day with her kind words and actions. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene O’Kelley; her daughter, Rebecca Diane O’Kelley Hanes; her parents, Thomas Edward and Lola Mae Hudgins Reece; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Shirley Reece; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Russell Murphy, Barbara and Myron Harrison, Arrie Mae Reece Wiley and Johnnie Wiley, and brother-in-law Calvin Brewster.

Survivors include son, Darwin O’Kelley (Gainesville, GA); son-in-law, Wade Hanes (Gainesville, GA); grandchildren, Steven and Amanda Hanes (Braselton, GA), Kelley and Laura Hanes (Pensacola, FL), Cameron O’Kelley (Gainesville, GA), and Morgan and Chase Gunter (Murrayville, GA); Great-grandchildren include Dylan Hanes, Jacob Hanes, Kella Hanes, Paisley Hanes, and Tyson Smith. Siblings, Betty and Skip Hope (Gainesville, GA), Shirley Brewster (Dahlonega, GA), Deborah and Roger Riley (Gainesville, GA), Verlin and Lavonda Reece (Commerce, GA) and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 23 at Hillside Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 with the service following directly after.
