Mary Farkas Obituary

Mary Margaret Farkas (McFerrin), 61, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 21, 2025, following a brief illness. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Mary will be remembered for her radiant smile who could connect with anyone. She had a profoundly deep love for life and people and left a lasting imprint on everyone she met.

Born on April 2, 1964, in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania, Mary was the daughter of the late Clara and Robert McFerrin. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family alongside her siblings Christine Miller, Diane Zampino, Thomas McFerrin, and her late brothers Eugene and Robert McFerrin.

In 1983, Mary met the love of her life, Frank Farkas, while they both worked for Trans World Airlines in New York City. Their connection was instant and enduring, leading to a
marriage that spanned 39 years—a partnership rooted in love, adventure, and mutual respect. Together they built not only a home but a life rich in exploration, laughter, and shared success.

Mary’s professional career was marked by extraordinary accomplishment. She spent 23 years in the corporate world, excelling in leadership roles, before finding her true professional passion in real estate. For over 20 years, she worked side by side with her husband, building a respected and highly successful award-winning business. Beloved by her clients and colleagues alike, Mary’s honesty, expertise, and dedication made her one of the most trusted professionals in her field.

Beyond her career, Mary was deeply involved in her community, serving as a mentor, team captain, and best friend to all who knew her. A lover of the outdoors, she found peace and comfort in gardening, and spending time on the water or in nature whenever possible. Most of all she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband exploring and enjoying exotic cultures, people and food.

Her enthusiasm for sports led her to captain her H.S. track team, numerous tennis and pickleball teams, even winning several ALTA City Championships. She was also an active member of the Gainesville newcomers’ group.

Above all, Mary cherished time with her family, creating memories filled with laughter and adventure. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Frank; her son, Jordan Farkas; her daughter, Ashley Farkas Marburger; many dear relatives and hundreds of friends and past clients who will carry her spirit forward.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Free Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia, on Tuesday, January 6th.
