Mildred “Millie” W. Roper of Gillsville, passed away Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at Bell Minor Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
Born October 8th, 1933, in Gainesville, she was the daughter of A. W. Whitmire and Gaynell Tatum Whitmire. She was a retired office coordinator for The Tire Barn in Gainesville.
In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Roper Sr.; son Andy Grigg; son-in-law Billy Page and brothers, Bill Whitmire and Jerry Whitmire.
Millie was a loving Mother and Nana. Her devotion to her family ran deep. Millie loved and lived her life for Jesus. She was a devoted member of Free Chapel and of Free Chapel Wisdom Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathi Page; daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Lee Barrett; daughter-in-law, Sheila Grigg; sister-in-law, Iris Whitmire; grandchildren; Ginger and Chris Cain, Leigh and Josh Little, Alex and Michele Grigg, Camille and Chris Barry, Joe and Krystal Tally, Austin and Kim Talley and Jeffery Roper; great grandchildren, Kealey, Alyssa and Brooks, Mason, Cannon, Ben, Bonnie Claire, Scott and Kelsey, Wes and Alyssa, and Tarin; great-great grandchildren, June and Jet.
The family would also like to give special thanks to Sabrina, Nikki, and Cody at Bell Minor.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
