Patrick Gardner Singleton

Pat G. Singleton, 79, of Atlanta, Georgia, died June 30, 2019 in Gainesville, Georgia at Lake Lanier surrounded by his family. He was born in Anniston, Alabama to Gardner Shackleford Singleton and Lydia Harman Singleton. Pat graduated from Anniston High School in 1958 and was an Eagle Scout and in the Order of the Arrow. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University in 1964. He was social chairman in the Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity, President of the A-Club and the Spiked Shoe Club. At Auburn, he met his wife Elizabeth Rose Sheets of Leeds, Alabama and was married in 1964. His life-long career was spent at Georgia Power Company in various management positions. He also was an active leader at the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the Roswell Rotary Club. He retired in 1999. Pat was known for his sense of humor, creativity and leadership skills. But he was a true problem-solver and innovative engineer at heart. He loved attending Auburn football games and his hobbies in photography, pottery, bird watching, and most of all fishing. Pat is survived by his wife of 55 years Betty (Sheets) Singleton; daughters Sage Singleton, Christy Singleton (Jon Newman), son Patrick B. Singleton (Raina (Sheridan) Singleton), grandson Beau Singleton Newman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gardner Shackleford Singleton and Lydia (Harman) Singleton. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday July 13, 2019 at the Botanical Gardens 1911 Sweetbay Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30501 at 11:00 am. A reception will immediately follow at a private home on Lake Lanier. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the general fund of Spruill Center for the Arts in Dunwoody, Georgia. www.spruillarts.org Pat was loved deeply by his family and friends.
