Shane Elizabeth Marriott

Shane Elizabeth Marriott, 55, of Flowery Branch, Georgia, born January 19, 1971, in Mount Airy, N.C., passed away June 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed. 

She was predeceased by her father, Fred Caldwell, grandmothers Lucille Shelton and Eva Caldwell. 

She is survived by her son, Austin; her mother, Elizabeth Caldwell; her sister, Amber Smith (Todd); and her nephews, Trotter Smith (Coley) and Ethan Smith. 

Shane’s greatest joy was her son, Austin, who remained by her side throughout her battle and until her last breath. A kind and creative soul, Shane was a devoted animal lover, especially to her Shih Tzu, Whiskey. After stepping away from the traditional job market following Austin’s arrival, she embraced her entrepreneurial spirit and launched a business creating personalized stationery, notecards, and jewelry. Although she later closed the business, she continued making thoughtful handmade gifts for friends and the nurses who cared for her with such compassion. She also built a fulfilling career in event security at major venues, where her fun, outgoing personality brought energy and smiles to every high-energy environment.  

She loved spending time on the lake with family, rainy-day reading, and movies with her son, Austin. 

Her kindergarten teacher once said Shane had more personality in her little finger than most children have in their whole body – and she was right. 

A private family memorial will be held under the direction of Hillside Chapel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1190 McEver Rd., Gainesville, Ga., 30504. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, a local hospice, or an animal rescue of your choice in Shane’s memory.
